Local Projects took top honors in two categories of the 2015 Fast Company Innovation by Design Awards

Named by Fast Company magazine in 2011 as the #2 most innovative company in the world

John Ryan is the Director of Interaction Design at Local Projects, an award-winning media design firm focusing on museums and public spaces. The firm has designed experiences for the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum with Diller Scofidio + Renfro, and the Frank Gehry-designed Eisenhower Presidential Memorial.

Originally from Ireland, John holds a B.Sc. in Multimedia from Dublin City University and an M.F.A. in Media Design from Art Center College of Design, California.

John's work has been exhibited, and received awards, in both Europe and the U.S. Over the years, he's been invited to present to numerous academic and industry groups, including Nokia, Microsoft, and the Silicon Beach Festival, Los Angeles.

Over the last 2 years, he's led interaction design and creative direction on multiple projects for Local Projects including the New York Hall of Science, the American Museum of Natural History, and Target.
