Support funding provided by Penn State Harrisburg Student Activity Fee Fund
Jim Sherraden leads the charge at Nashville-based Hatch Show Print, a letterpress print shop and American treasure founded in 1879 that is now part of the Country Music Hall of Fame (since 1992).
Since 1984 Jim has guided the shop's creative and has built the business to be among the world's most respected design studios and a destination for letterpress enthusiasts. More than 600 jobs make their way through the studio each year under Jim's mantra of "Preservation through production," using the same wood type that has been used for generations.
Hatch clients have included entertainers like Neil Young, Coldplay, and the Beastie Boys, and design clients such as Anthropologie, CNN, and Nike. The Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) had a solo show of Hatch Show Print's posters that ran from 2008-2012 at sites throughout the country.
Additionally, Jim is a co-writer of "Hatch Show Print, The History of a Great American Poster Shop" published by Chronicle Books.
He is an entertaining and engaging speaker and frequently travels to share his passion for life and letterpress.
