Lu Chekowsky Associate Creative Director Wieden+Kennedy New York presents "Find Your Voice" Your voice is the key to making the kind of work that only you can make. It differentiates you. It's how you're known. To find your voice is to succeed as a creative. In the effort to break ground and stand out - how will you use your voice to be heard? A talk about confidence, awareness, experience, trust, insecurity, ego, reality, nonsense, playfulness, intention, improvisation, optimism, and risk. ---- Lu is Co-Associate Creative Director on the Alberto Culver brands Noxzema and St. Ives. She joined Wieden+Kennedy New York in 2006 as a Copywriter and has worked on campaigns for Brand Jordan, Nike Canada, Talbots, Sharp, Cole Haan, Proctor+Gamble, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Prior to her role in the New York office, Lu attended the first year of Wieden+Kennedy's experimental advertising school, "12," housed within W+K's Portland office. While there she contributed to many projects during the thirteen-month program, including NOVEMBER 2 (a 2004 bi-partisan get-out-the-vote campaign) and a documentary film for The Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Throughout her career, Lu has worked to more wholly understand the relationship between women and advertising. She has blogged about the subject for the Huffington Post, appeared as a panelist on the PBS advertising talk show, "Mental Engineering," and received the Harriett Abbott Award for Innovation and Vision in Advertising from the Women's Image Network. Lu also currently volunteers with Ad Women of New York - mentoring up-and-coming female creatives. Before advertising, Lu was a lot of other things: a stand-up comic, a burlesque fire dancer, a relationship columnist, a telephone psychic, a script-writer for Britney Spears, and a tram-driving emcee on the backstage tour at Disney/MGM Studios.
